Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Crescent Rolls perfect for a hearty breakfast or brunch. Flaky crescent dough is filled with savory cooked sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs, and melted smoked gouda cheese, then baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 8 sausage links, cooked through
  • 1 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese
  • 3 eggs, scrambled
  • 1 (8 oz) container flaky crescent rolls

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon heavy cream
  • Sea salt, to sprinkle

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to get it ready for baking the crescent rolls.
  2. Assemble Rolls: Unroll each crescent roll with the widest end facing you. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over each piece. Place one cooked sausage link on the wide end of each crescent roll, then add a spoonful of scrambled eggs underneath the sausage. Carefully roll up the crescent roll starting from the wide end, tucking in any stray cheese or eggs as you roll.
  3. Prepare Baking Sheet: Place the assembled crescent rolls on a greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  4. Make Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and heavy cream. Brush this egg wash over the tops of the crescent rolls to achieve a beautiful golden color once baked. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each roll.
  5. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until they are golden brown and the cheese inside is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot for a satisfying breakfast treat.

Notes

  • Use fully cooked sausage links to save prep time and ensure even cooking.
  • Substitute smoked gouda with cheddar or mozzarella cheese if preferred.
  • For a crispier crust, place the crescent rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush egg wash carefully to avoid dripping onto the baking sheet and burning.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and texture, though leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven.
