Description

A healthy homemade jello recipe made with natural juice, unflavored beef gelatin, and optional natural sweeteners. This refreshing and clean dessert is free from dyes and additives, suitable for kids and adults, and perfect for those seeking a paleo, dairy free, and gluten free treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups juice (any natural fruit juice of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored beef gelatin (such as Vital Proteins or Great Lakes)
  • 2 tablespoons honey, agave, or cane sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom The Gelatin: Pour 1/2 cup of the juice into a liquid measuring cup or small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin powder evenly over the juice and stir gently to combine. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken and become very grainy and thick.
  2. Heat The Remaining Juice: While the gelatin is blooming, pour the remaining 3 1/2 cups of juice into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until the juice is steaming but not boiling or simmering.
  3. Melt The Bloomed Gelatin: Add the honey or alternative sweetener (if using) to the hot juice, then add the thickened gelatin mixture. Stir continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved, ensuring a smooth mixture.
  4. Set the Jello: Pour the gelatin mixture into a 2-quart ceramic pan or heat-proof container (such as 8x8, 9x9, or 11x7 inch pans). Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours until fully set.
  5. Serve and Store: Once set, slice and serve the jello. Store leftovers in the refrigerator and consume within 4-5 days for best texture and flavor, though it can last up to 7-10 days without spoiling.

Notes

  • Use 100% natural fruit juices with no added sugars or preservatives for best results.
  • If you prefer a different sweetness level, adjust the amount and type of sweetener accordingly or omit it altogether for a savory flavor.
  • The gelatin must be fully dissolved to avoid grainy texture.
  • You can use individual molds or cups instead of a pan for portioned servings.
  • This recipe is dairy free, gluten free, paleo friendly, and suitable for most diets excluding vegan due to gelatin.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent absorption of fridge odors.
