Description

A classic Blueberry Cobbler recipe that combines fresh or frozen blueberries with a buttery, sweet batter topping. This easy-to-make dessert offers a perfect balance of juicy berries, crisp golden crust, and a hint of cinnamon, ideal for serving warm with ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 4 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen) (600 g)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (2 g)

Batter

  • 6 tablespoons butter (85 g)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder (8 g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5 g)
  • 3/4 cup milk (180 ml)
  • ground cinnamon (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice the butter into pieces and add it to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the dish in the oven to allow the butter to melt while the oven heats.
  2. Prepare Blueberries: In a bowl, combine the blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and lemon zest. Stir gently to mix the ingredients evenly.
  3. Make Batter: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and stir just until combined to create a smooth batter.
  4. Assemble Cobbler: Remove the baking dish with melted butter from the oven. Pour the blueberry mixture evenly over the melted butter. Spoon or drizzle the batter evenly over the blueberries. Lightly sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the top is lightly golden and set.
  6. Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy with a scoop of ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen blueberries depending on availability; frozen blueberries can be used straight from the freezer without thawing.
  • If you prefer a less sweet cobbler, reduce the sugar in the batter by 1/4 cup.
  • Ground cinnamon adds a warm flavor but can be omitted or substituted with nutmeg.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter and milk with plant-based alternatives.
  • Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the topping tender and light.
