Description

Festive Christmas Tree Deviled Eggs with a creamy avocado and mayonnaise filling, garnished with crushed red pepper flakes and topped with bright yellow bell pepper stars. Perfect for holiday parties and Christmas Eve dinners, these charming appetizers add both flavor and visual appeal to your festive spread.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs and Filling

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ½ large avocado (ripe)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (or red pepper pieces)

Garnish

  • 1 large yellow bell pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the Eggs: Hard-cook the eggs using your preferred method, such as boiling on the stovetop for 10 minutes or using an Instant Pot for a foolproof approach. Once cooked, allow them to cool enough to handle.
  2. Peel and Halve: Carefully peel the cooled eggs and slice each one in half lengthwise to expose the yolks.
  3. Prepare the Filling: Scoop the yolks into a mixing bowl. Mash them together with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and ripe avocado until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Fill the Egg Whites: Using a piping bag or a spoon, pipe the creamy yolk mixture back into the egg white halves, creating a tall swirl to mimic a Christmas tree shape.
  5. Add Ornaments: Sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes over the yolk filling, or alternatively, place tiny pieces of red pepper or pomegranate seeds on top to serve as festive ornaments.
  6. Create and Attach Stars: Use a 1-inch star-shaped cookie cutter to cut 12 stars from the yellow bell pepper. Place one star at the top of each egg tree to complete the look.

Notes

  • For perfectly hard-cooked eggs, use an Instant Pot or follow stovetop instructions to ensure easy peeling.
  • The avocado adds creaminess and a subtle flavor twist while keeping the filling rich and smooth.
  • If you prefer milder heat, substitute crushed red pepper flakes with small pieces of red bell pepper or pomegranate seeds as ornaments.
  • These deviled eggs are ideal for holiday gatherings, brunches, or to brighten up any party table.
  • You can prepare the eggs a day in advance and assemble just before serving for best freshness.
